BOLD Fort Worth is proud to present "Birth" on stage at the Bob Duncan Center on Friday, September 23 & Saturday, September 24, 2011. In our second year in the DFW area, BOLD Action is a worldwide movement promoting awareness about Mother-Friendly maternity care. The play will benefit the Tarrant County Birth Network. There will be 3 performances: on 9/23, an evening performance at 7:00 pm, and on 9/24, a "crybaby" matinee at 2:00 and evening performance begins at 7:00 pm. Each performance will be followed by a Talkback, addressing maternity care in our community. In conjunction with the play, our Birth & Family Expo will run from 11:00-6:00 pm on Saturday. There will be lots of Vendors, a huge Silent Auction, 500 goody bags, and giveaways throughout the afternoon. BOLD Fort Worth is a small group of (mostly) women in the DFW area joining others around the world in September 2011 in performing the play, Birth, by Karen Brody. Brody wrote Birth after interviewing 118 women across America about their birth stories. The play tells the story of eight of those women, representing the spectrum of experience among low-risk, educated, birthing women in the US today. Each performance is followed by a talk-back, giving audience members a chance to discuss pertinent issues from the play. First and foremost, BOLD Fort Worth is an event that is designed to create awareness and advocate for mother-friendly childbirth choices. It is also a fundraising event for the Tarrant County Birth Network. There are four ways that BOLD Fort Worth is raising money for TCBN. 1) Ticket sales: 100% of the profits from the Fort Worth production of Birth go to the Tarrant County Birth Network. Our goal has been to keep expenses as low as possible to maximize our contribution. 2) Memberships: TCBN Memberships are split between the local chapter and the national Birth Network organization (to offset the costs that national incurs in administrating each chapter). TCBN is running a membership drive during the production period before Birth. 3) Silent Auction/ Birth & Family Expo: 100% of the profits from the Silent Auction and the Expo go to benefit TCBN. 4) Sponsorships: Performance sponsors receive special benefits and consideration during the event. Sponsorship funds go to pay for event expenses and any additional funds will go into the TCBN general fund. All donations are tax deductible. |
